Shaun Mullins
Sound Design, Propellerhead Media
Shaun Mullins began his lifelong interest in sound as a teenager in the Catskill Mountains of New York, self-learning garage guitar and piano, developing an insatiable curiosity about pro audio gear, and studying studio and live mixing console design in the pre-Internet 1970s. Upon moving to Buffalo in 1978 he immediately began working with bands and sound companies as a live sound mixer and system technician. After much freelance work and several tours he landed in 1985 at The Tralf, Buffalo’s premiere live music performance venue, as in-house soundman and production manager, a five year gig that would expose him to hundreds of world class acts and total immersion in live production. In 1989 Shaun became employed full time as an engineer at a large film and video production facility, where he installed equipment, learned video engineering, and eventually became chief engineer. In 2000 he left to form his own company, Propellerhead Media, specializing in audio postproduction for picture and radio. Branching out as a musician and composer, Shaun has written and recorded music for hundreds of broadcast TV and radio commercials, as well as corporate and long form scoring projects. Shaun continues to be challenged by all kinds of projects. He lives in the Elmwood Village of Buffalo, NY, and is also a pilot and aviation history buff.
